Appearance
Nothing is what it appears to be,
Yet everything is its appearance.
As it is with appearance,
So it is with nothing,
And so it is with everything.
Each appearance always means more than itself
Since it is a symbol for something which
Transcends its own givenness.
Each appearance covers a deeper appearance;
The web of relationships between the cover and
the covered
Develop the meaning of each of the
involved appearances
And fulfills their essences.
Every action energizes a complex of appearances
And each energized appearance gives life to
Those appearances it covers.
When the energies of all activated appearances
Chain together and lovingly reinforce one
another
In a way consistent with the highest good,
When the energies of all activated appearances
Do not chain together,
They tug against each other
In a way that prevents their fulfillment
And feeds external forces.
Disharmony and disruption are experienced.
Without the appearances in which I clothe
The unknowable nothing I am in material
existence,
I cannot materially be.
Even though I choose, create, and am responsible
for the appearances,
I am not these appearances.
Hence, nothing is what it appears to be,
Yet everything is its appearance.
